The versatile Fenix_FO cultivator

Up until recently it was almost impossible to conduct efficient stubble cultivation, ensuring the crop residue was adequately mixed as well as removing the plough pan by using just one machine. The huge amount of effort put in by the Strom-Bednar design team has recently paid off with the presentation of a compact cultivator with its main advantage being its considerable versatility.

The versatile Strom-Bednar Fenix_FO cultivator with 4 rows of tines ensures efficient soil cultivation, regardless of its kind or any prevailing conditions. The Fenix is equipped with an integrated transport axle which allows you to work without a rear roller in difficult conditions or in the autumn instead of ploughing.

It features a rigid frame

The possibility of operating the Fenix_FO cultivator to a depth of up to 35 cm is mainly due to the considerable sturdiness of the Strom-Bednar construction. It features a twin mid frame made of profiles measuring 150x100 mm and 120x120 mm. The well-spaced frame design ensures a distance of 80 cm between the plough’s sets of tines which are spaced 30 cm apart. Additionally the cultivator features a ground clearance of 86 cm beneath its frame, which ensures smooth operation regardless of the amount of crop residue. The stability of the Fenix_FO cultivator, available in four widths (from 4.0 to 7.0 metres), also improves the locking system for the connection of the side frames.

Mid-mounted and without packers

Another distinguishing feature of the Fenix_FO cultivator is the location of its transport axle. It can be found in the middle, which allows the unit to work efficiently even when it is configured without the rear packer- for example in wet conditions or during the autumn instead of ploughing. The tracks are followed by the last row of tines. In addition, the axle is positioned closer to the tractor, increasing manoeuvrability and reducing the turn radius. The tines located behind its transport wheels prevent the formation of ruts.  For Fenix_FO cultivators, the desired working depth is maintained by means of the front guiding wheels. Their hydraulic regulation makes it possible to set the operating parameters without leaving the operator's seat. Easy adjustment of the working depth in these Strom-Bednar units is also possible by using hydro-clips. Depending on how deep the machine is to operate, this may also be completely hydraulically regulated.

The versatility is provided by the possibility of 5 different working shares and 8 different rear rollers. Thanks to the integrated transport axle, you can work without a rear roller even in difficult conditions (wet) or instead of ploughing in the autumn.

Safe tines

In order to work in extremely difficult conditions, the Fenix_FO cultivator is equipped with a maintenance-free overload protection measure. This consists of two vertical springs with a release pressure of 450 to 700 kilograms. The design of this protection measure allows the deflection of the rigid plough rollers to the height of 30 cm. At the same time, the solution offered by Strom-Bednar ensures a fixed geometry for each of the rollers, regardless of the depth at which they work.

A wide choice

The configuration possibilities of the Fenix_FO series machines are almost limitless and ensure their adaptation to all requirements. Depending on the soil and weather conditions as well as the nature of the work, any of five different types of chisels are mounted on to the working elements. In the event of shallow ploughing, the manufacturer recommends the use of a 280 mm wide cultivator shares.  The uprooting and mixing of crop residue and soil increases the intensity of voluntary plant and weed growth. If cultivating soil to a depth of 30 cm there is the convenient feature of quickly installing mulch chisels with a mouldboard. This combination provides intensive soil mixing in the deeper soil layers, while still maintaining the low resistance of the working components. A compromise between the two solutions may be found by fitting winged chisels (with the width of 6, 8 or 10 cm) which increase the intensity of soil mixing and uproot the crop residue uniformly. After the unfininished sentence.

The FENIX is equipped with 4 rows of tines, 1 row of levelling discs and a rear roller  You can equip the Fenix with an ALFA seeding machine for covering crops

For consolidation purposes

Although the Fenix_FO with its specially placed transport axle is ideal for pre-winter tillage (without the rear packer, the cultivator leaves the soil with a better structure for the winter), its Czech manufacturer equipped the FENIX with a rear roller of which there are 8 varieties to choose from so that you can customize the machine to the conditions you face.  A tried and tested solution for soils with higher moisture content is the spring packer which not only compacts the soil but mixes it intensively and breaks it up. One may also consider mounting a V-ring type packer, or a heavy steel ring packer. Both of these solutions work well in breaking up the soil and at the same time they eliminate the problem of the packers becoming caked. Another option is the roadpacker which is made of hard rubber and of which the degree of pressure put on the soil can be fully regulated or there is the traditional tube roller. The new features are 2 types of Combi rollers, combined from a spring roller and a V/ U ring.
