BEDNARs’ first participation in the exhibition at Nampo harvest day, South Africa (RSA)
Nampo harvest day is South Africa's largest exhibition, which is held annually near the town of Bothaville. This year the fair took place from 12.5.2015 to 15.5.2015 and BEDNAR FMT was already part of the exhibition. South Africa is known for it’s large amounts of grain corn, and just for this globally important crop, BEDNAR in recent years has developed the right machines, which were displayed during Nampo on the stand of BEDNAR distributor BPI / Michigan.
The ideal machines for grain corn
The frequent crop rotation system in South Africa consists of grain corn – wheat - grain corn. Crops are grown either under irrigation or no irrigation. In the case of irrigation, yields can easily reach 16 tons / ha for grain corn and 10 t / ha for wheat. "We've got a large amount of grain corn that produces large amounts of crop residues. These residues need to be mixed well with the soil and incorporated in soil profiles. That's why I like the BEDNAR technology, which is very suitable for South African farming – first to mulch residues then disking using the heavy disc cultivator the Atlas HO then chiseling with the Terralands to restore soil structure and water management." Commented Frikkie Hefer (Sales manager of Michigan Equipment).
Nampo 2015, introduction of BEDNAR implements
BEDNAR displayed on the stand of BPI machines, which are able to handle a large amount of trash after the harvest of grain corn – The rotary cutter the Mulcher MM 7000, heavy disc cultivator the Atlas HO 8000, combined chisel plough theTerraland DO 4000 (discs + tines) which is able to handle soil and trash in a single pass, the chisel plough Terraland TN 3000 Profi. As part of the stand were also machines for wheat – tine cultivator Fenix and short disc cultivator SwifterDisc XE 10000. "I am very happy that I could come to the Nampo show and talk to the South African farmers. Interest in our machines is enormous here. Especially for machines suitable for the technology of grain corn. In recent years, we have just been concentrating on this crop, and developed machines suitable for efficient soil tillage before the planting of corn and processing residues from grain corn.” Said Jan Bednar (Export Sales Manager).
