The 50th anniversary of the NAMPO Agricultural Trade Show
Nampo field days in South Africa date back to 1967. Bednar FMT has attended the show for the last 4 years and every time there is an increase in the interest of their machines. The show has traditionally been situated near Botha Ville in NAMPO Park. Visitors are able to see over the four days the latest technology from around the world and from over 60 foreign producers and suppliers of agricultural technology from, livestock, grains, machinery, storage and implements.
BEDNAR FMT traditionally shows its latest models to interest high demand customers not only from South Africa, but all over Sub-Saharan Africa. Sincethe successful launch of its products in the Democratic Congo, Bednar is starting to find customers in Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Probably the most successful machine in Nampo and SA would be the SWIFTERDISC XN, XO_F. These models were presented on Nampo in the3m model XN 3000 and the pulled type XO 8000 F. Both of these models are already working on farms over SA, as- well as the largest of these disc cultivators the XE 12 000. The largest model the XE 12 000 in 12 m working width is starting to be very popular in precision farming.
ATLAS – the brother of the Swifter disc with a larger diameter of discs (620 mm) was presented in the smaller size 3m model type ATLAS AN 3000. The machine was very interesting for farmers with harder conditions, hills and a smaller tractor size. The great value of Atlas is in the constant spring suspension, therefore the dry and hard conditions are not a problem afterwards.
The problems with hard-pans (soil hardening) is becoming more and more of a problem for farmers, especially in the southern dry lands. Bednar FMT is helping customers solve this kind of problem with Terraland models. At the show, they presented a TERRALAND TN 3000 PROFI version (model for finer finish , upgraded with a coulter section after the tandem spiky rollers) and the largest version of pulled type model TERRALAND TO 6000 with great hydraulic suspension for rough conditions
The Last product was the TERRALAND DO 5000 is designed for farmers with a need to prepare the soil with one pass. The machine consists of two rows of disc as with the ATLAS models, following with shares to make perfect consolidationof the soil and mix the previous stubble after disc set to the ground. This process is finished with tandem packers at the end to consolidate the surface, and break the clods after after the sharers and keep the released moisture in the ground.
Frikkie Hefer (Business and Marketing Director):
„ Nampo was very successful , for the last 4 years we have really tried to build the brand of the Bednar Machinery and the South African market has been very down and experienced probably the worst 3 years in the last 100 years for agricultural in South Africa , but through all of this we have steadily grown the Bednar brand to be a known and wanted brand of soil preparation and seeding equipment in South Africa and most recently Africa , the future for this brand looks brighter than ever on the African continent and customers are demanding this brand of machinery on their farms now . We are still growing but for sure will be the best soil and seeding equipment available on the market in South Africa and Africa and Bednar Africa is building a strong reputation for being a company reliable for good service and excellent advice when it comes to buying seeding and soil preparation equipment.
In tough times Bednar seems to be putting the JOY back in Farming in South Africa. “
